The annual Frost or Fog Run in Bidwell Park – known as Chico’s favorite winter race – will benefit Chico Homeless Animal Outreach this year. CHAO is an animal welfare charity dedicated to caring for the companion animals of homeless people and works closely with the Torres Shelter and The Jesus Center, as well as Butte Humane and Chico Animal Services. CHAO reaches out to people in the homeless community, providing pet food and supplies year-round, and blankets and dog coats when the weather is cold. Chico Homeless Animal Outreach even helps arrange veterinary care and fostering for the sick or injured animals of the homeless. Proceeds from Frost or Fog 2015 will support the activities of this Chico-based organization.

The run is Saturday, January 24th in Bidwell Park, rain or shine! It offers 5K, 10-mile and Quarter Marathon options to accommodate everyone from the dedicated athlete to the casual walker. Participants for all three levels of competition will meet at the Five-Mile Recreation area, and start times will be staggered. Ten-milers start off at 8:30AM; quarter marathoners leave at 8:45AM; and 5K runners and walkers set off at 9AM.
